RC bugs of the week

I just couldn’t resist… I joined the game, but did it the other way around.

I could only file 51 new FTBFS (Fail To Build From Source) bugs this time. Looks like Squeeze is getting closer!

I’ve also been doing rebuilds of Ubuntu lucid. There are currently 561 packages that fail to build from source in lucid/amd64, versus 430 in sid/amd64 (I will start rebuilding squeeze instead of sid after the freeze). Surprisingly, only 131 packages fail in both. I would have expected that number to be much higher.

The 51 new FTBFS bugs:

  1. Could you do a brief introduction to the procedure you do to rebuild sh*tloads of packages? I’ve got boxes on a few different architectures that I’d like to use to find and, if simple enough, fix FTBFS bugs. If its something I cannot handle I will just have to leave the bugs open with whatever information I dig up and a brief analysis of the problem. Cheers

  2. banshee-extension-mirage won’t build against recent Banshee – but the version of Mirage in the NEW banshee-community-extensions source package will.

‘cept I’m scared the QA people will beat me up for uploading RC fixes to NEW again.

  3. pete: He has access to a 5000 node cluster of fast amd64 machines. Apparently rebuilding them all takes 10 hours because of OpenOffice taking 10 hours :)
